Although this blog doesn’t officially open until January 22, I felt so strongly about a couple of subjects that I just had to post. So, if you’ve come by expecting a fully-functioning, decorated and convenient blog, I’m sorry if you’re disappointed. However, I promise to at least whet your appetite with the entry above. Another will follow soon.
The sky outside is light steel blue with the faintest hints of orange. Soon, the sun will leisurely penetrate the dark stillness of my bedroom through a northern window, signaling the beginning of a new day. It is dawn; and, on this particular morning, I am ensconced in the development of my new blog, “Words of a Wicked Woman.” I have researched host sites, platforms, designs and tools to find the best possible solution for this new endeavor, finally settling on a space at WordPress.com.
The primary purpose of this blog is to write about and discuss what it means to be black and lesbian in a world that doesn’t want me to be either. It should come as no surprise that merely existing brings me into conflict with the status quo. I don’t necessarily think the way most people do because my “normal” is anything but to the wider majority of straight, white (or Hispanic) people in the U.S. I hope that difference will lead to thought-provoking discussions on these pages about sexuality, politics, world and national events and religion, one of my favorite subjects.
If you’re here, you’ve found this site by accident. Although good progress in preparing this new space for public view, there is still a way to go until it’s ready for the grand opening January 22nd. So, excuse the dust while I experiment with different elements in my search for the best way to interact with you, the reader. Feel free to bookmark this page and come back in a few weeks. Or, if you prefer, check back to note progress as the site is readied to go live. The plan is to make these pages as attractive and easy to navigate as possible, so excuse me if I focus on those goals instead of posting frequent updates.
Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to seeing you again on Monday, January 22nd.
Thanks for leaving a comment. I’m 22… count your blessings if you live in the States, I suspect its much easier there than here. I’ve heard of Staceyann Chin before on http://www.keithboykin.com, but never actually looked her up until this. She’s actually posing with a friend of mine from Ja in her pics (interesting)… sorry I tend to babble. Thanks again, much love.
